Tirilye, the olive-scented neighborhood of Mudanya, experiences a feast befitting its history and nature with the Olive Blossom Festival, held for the first time this year. Bringing together the labor of the producers, the unique atmosphere of Tirilye and the abundance of olives, the festival colors the streets of Tirilye with workshops, walking routes, music and flavors.

The Tirilye Olive Blossom Festival, organized by the Mudanya Municipality for the first time this year, has become a grand gathering in Tirilye, the home of the olive, blending history, nature and culture. During this fruitful season when the olive flowers bloom, the streets of Tirilye are filled with stands that bring together producers and visitors, workshops that appeal to participants of all ages, and regional flavors. The festival is not only a festival; but it has also become an experience that celebrates the spirit of Tirilye, the story of the olive, and the culture of common life.

Producers brought together natural flavors and handcrafted products with visitors at festival stands set up in the heart of Tirilye. Offering the opportunity to shop directly from the producers, this meeting added liveliness to the streets of Tirilye, while the festival excitement reached its peak with workshops and events appealing to visitors of all ages. Children painted olive flowers, adults enjoyed the joy of producing wood painting and olive oil soap workshops.

At the taste stops, the kitchens had their say. In the Olive Oil Recipes with Chefs event, Adnan Karanfil Nar explained the “Spring Rice with Artichoke” and Atakan Özen explained the “Kapanca Harbor Plate” recipes in a practical way, which was followed with great interest by the visitors.

The Taş Mektep Academy, a witness to history, also hosted the journey of the olive with talks and shows. The abundance of Tirilye and olives was explained in the talk attended by Marmarbirlik Board Chairman Ali Yıldız and Mudanya Olive Agricultural Sales Cooperative Chairman Cüneyt Soylu. The historical journey of the olive and the distinctive features of the region's olives were also discussed in the talk.

The program, which was completed with the performances of “Meddah Show” and “An Olive Story” prepared by Uludağ University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts, brought the past and the present together on stage.

TRACKING THE OLIVE STEP BY STEP

One of the most popular stops of the festival was the “Olive Route”. This special hiking route, which brings together the history and nature of Tirilye, included the Stone School Academy, the Old Post Office Building, the historical Olive Oil Factory, the Arched Church, century-old olive trees, a stone oven, the Çamlı Coffee Viewing Terrace and the Festival Photo Area. Participants who completed the route received surprise gifts by having their special seals printed on the festival brochures. The gift of the first day was a unique olive sapling specific to Tirilye.

THERE IS LIFE IN TİRİLYE

The second day of the festival (Sunday, June 1) brings the same excitement to Tirilye. The day will begin with a hiking where nature and history intertwine, and continue with colorful workshops ranging from ceramics to kites. While children release their kites into the sky, storyteller shows and folk dances will meet with the audience in the squares. The festival energy will continue throughout the day with Olive Route gifts, talks on olive cultivation and surprise events. In the evening, the festival will close with an unforgettable finale that will echo in the Tirilye skies with the stage of jazz music master Kerem Görsev.

HOURLY SHUTTLES

Mudanya Municipality provides shuttle services between Mudanya center and Tirilye to facilitate access to the festival area. The shuttles will operate regularly throughout the festival.
