The Mudanya Municipality promoted the city's historical, cultural, and natural richnesses at international meetings held in Slovenia and France. Baran Güneş, the Vice Mayor of Mudanya and Municipal Councilor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality represented Mudanya at the Assembly of European Regions (AER) General Assembly and the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

Baran Güneş, presenting on behalf of Mudanya at the AER General Assembly held in Maribor, Slovenia, from June 24–26, discussed the city's millennia-old history, natural beauty, and touristic assets, beginning with the ancient city of Myrleia. Emphasizing the Armistice of Mudanya, Güneş stated that the city stands out as the "Capital of Peace."

In his presentation, Güneş provided information about the Mudanya Municipality's cultural and nature route, Rota Myrleia, designed to promote tourism and shared his work to protect tangible cultural heritage. Güneş highlighted renewable energy investments and climate-friendly practices in line with sustainable development goals, and also noted that Mudanya is a party to the Global Covenant of Mayors.

At the meeting, local products were promoted by offering freeze-dried strawberries, figs, and peaches packaged by the Mudanya Municipality under the "Mudanya Kurusu" brand, as well as the city's unique olive oil.

HE BECOMES THE VOICE OF YOUTH IN STRASBOURG

Baran Güneş also attended the Social Inclusion and Human Dignity Committee (SOC) meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, held in Strasbourg, France, on June 30. Güneş spoke on youth participation in politics and freedom of expression, and highlighted the plight of young people facing investigations due to their social media posts.

Commenting after the meetings, Baran Güneş said, "We had the opportunity to increase the international visibility of both Mudanya and CHP-led local governments and directly convey the democratic values ​​we defend to our European counterparts. I was deeply honored to represent Mudanya and our understanding of local government on two important platforms."
