Mudanya is included in the “National Struggle Route” prepared by the Historical Cities Union to reveal the cities and heroes that bear the traces of the War of Independence with seven important points. Mayor of Mudanya Deniz Dalgıç said, “We are once again proud to host the Armistice of Mudanya, which was the beginning of the road to Lausanne and where the National Struggle was crowned with a diplomatic victory.”.

The “National Struggle Route” project, which aims to unearth cities, historical structures and heroic stories bearing the traces of the War of Independence, was implemented under the leadership of the Historical Cities Union. In this meaningful route, which included 127 locations from 23 provinces across Türkiye, Mudanya also took its place with seven important historical points, standing out with its critical role in the struggle for independence.

Mayor of Mudanya Deniz Dalgıç attended the "1st Ordinary Assembly Meeting of the Historical Cities Union: National Struggle Route Congress" held in Konya by the Historical Cities Union. At the meeting chaired by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, it was announced that the "National Struggle Route" of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his companions was created in order to unearth the cities, forgotten stories, and heroes that bear the traces of the National Struggle that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk set out from Istanbul on May 16, 1919 and ended with victory on October 23, 1922. The digital route, prepared with the aim of reminding us of the spirit of struggle that has spread all over Anatolia, includes 127 important points from 23 provinces. On the National Struggle Route, there are the Armistice House in Mudanya, the Tahirpaşa Mansion, the Martyr Şükrü Çavuş Monument, the Hasan Bey Bathhouse where the spirit of resistance sprouted, the Mudanya Station Building where the resistance was organized, the Mirzaoba Martyr's Cemetery where unnamed heroes lie, and the Ömerbey Mosque, the barracks of the soldiers.

Mayor of Mudanya Deniz Dalgıç emphasized the importance of preparing the National Struggle Route, which will remind us of the spirit of struggle that has spread all over Anatolia, and said, “We are proud to be on this route with seven points.” Drawing attention to the fact that Mudanya is of great importance as the place where the victories achieved in the military field in the War of Independence were also crowned in the field of diplomacy, Dalgıç spoke as follows:

“At a time when the historical meaning of the Treaty of Lausanne is being discussed, implementing the National Struggle Route is extremely valuable in terms of reminding us of the great resistance and will for independence given in these lands. Lausanne is the result of this great march crowned with a victory in the diplomatic field. Mudanya is where İsmet Pasha said to those who brought up the Treaty of Mudros during the Lausanne talks, ‘I came here not from Mudros, but from Mudanya.’ For this reason, we are very proud to be on this meaningful route with the Armistice House where the Mudanya Armistice was held and a total of seven points symbolizing the struggles of our heroic soldiers. In order to be worthy of this honor, we will protect the gains of the Republic and continue to progress on the path shown by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”

In the commission elections held at the union meeting, Mayor of Mudanya Deniz Dalgıç was elected as a member of the Cultural Heritage Finance Development Commission.
