HASAN BEY CULTURAL CENTER
The bathhouse, built by Hasan Bey back in 1652, was restored thanks to contributions of benefactor businessman Agah Bursalı. Locals call the building as “Upper Bathhouse” (“Yukarı Hamam”) or “Old Bathhouse” (“Eski Hamam”) as well. It was built by Hasan Pasha, Brigadier of Egypt in 1653. Its revenues were allocated as income for the nearby mosque and other foundations constructed in the same era. Tomb of Hasan Pasha is located in the yard of mosque. The bathhouse consists of two major spaces with square plan, in addition to supplementary spaces. In the course of time, the building had become unserviceable and was used as storehouse and carpenter’s shop. Eventually, it was appropriately restored and introduced to Mudanya as cultural center.
